Shopping!!!

So I hit Oxford Circus and Boom! got right to it, no playing around, no reservations - we know what I'm here for - the product. Got the small suitcase in tow and hit the TopShop - which in my opinion is one of the most amazing stores! This is the flagship store and boy is it a flagship. Got right to it and a few hundred pounds later - I was a happy camper! Went over to Bik Bok - which is some sort of Norweigan store and reminds me a bit of Oilily all grown up. I was reminded by my cousin not to spend it all since we're going out to Brighton on Friday but forgive me for saying - Nothing could possibly beat the TopShop owwww!!!!

Next stop was the long dropped from my list store - French Connection. Ever since they went with that FCUK campaign I just sortof fell out of their fan club but they won me back this once with the AMAZING sale!!! 10,15 & 20 pounds! Whoa, cleaned up there too. Off to Selfridges today, I'm rubbing my hands together as we speak.

Back in Britain

Back in London again and how refreshing. It always feels like coming home - well sort of. I don't go home to B'dos that much for the simple fact that I'm on and B'dos is not. Well not in the way that I'd like it to be. I pretty much checked out back in 1988 and realized that I couldn't and didn't want to live there anymore and my mind just shifted. Don't know where the resentment came from, maybe the fact that I spent so many years studying and doing things by the book only to come out of school with no prospects or hope of having a career that would lead anywhere. Maybe it was the fact that you'd have all this education and have to look forward to a promising career in banking or hotel front desk! Yum. I just didn't want that and couldn't bear that for myself. After feeling completely trapped by this place I decided to make a dash anywhere I could and that was to NYC and boy did I take to the place in a big way. B'dos will always be my home, where I'm from and the source of the values and thinking that form who I am but B'dos has also become a place that I outgrew and after having done it all - including all the touristy bits; well it became in a word; played out. So now when I go back, it is only to show the beauty of the place to others, see family and that's that. Nothing really to get excited about or get into. Next guest I've to show is my husband - 5 days should do that. I don't know why the resentment but it is there. I still hold onto and hate the fact that after leaving school and getting all the required things that I languished without a job and barely got it together enough to make some money to make it out of there. It still bothers me - do I hold onto those things - I guess yes.
So here I am in London again, 2nd time in a year and loving it, and since last I've been to B'dos in 2000 I've seen Holland, Cuba, Mexico, Maine & South Beach. I'll try to swing by on a day or 2 I've free but don't hold your breath. Over and out! Heading out to try to get to the famous Ministry of Sound.

It's Ours!!!

We did it! They signed the contract, they were happy with the offered price and all systems are go!!! Inspection is scheduled for next Friday, mortgage to set up and that looks good, they say that we are "Vanilla" when it comes to credit! Yeah so all systems are go, just have to get over the appraisal and inspection hurdles and boom. We could be living in a new location come September! I cannot wait, waking up to be able to do my laundry at home, not having to lug shit around, not having to deal with moaning tenants and just coasting. A decent sensible kitchen to do my now numerous meals and store things in pleasure.
The first Foxtons realtor keeps calling and e-mailing, but we have put the freeze on her. She called to say that something was reduced, didn't say the address (trying to be clever) and we ignored! She is annoying and didn't know anything about the market, about the neighbourhoods and basically nothing. All she was, was a phony smile and a standard bullshit commentary which I don't need and the last episode when Jamelah came along completely turned me off her!!! My husband plans to call her as soon as we move and tell her that we found a place and rub it in! I think that's crazy and funny all at the same time. Stay tuned for the fun and games of the house move.
One thing that I would tell or advice anyone living in this country. The one thing NEVER GET YOURSELF INTO BAD DEBT. DON'T DO IT DON'T DO IT DON'T DO IT.

House Found!!??

Ok ok so I'm a little excited we since got a new Realtor, looked in a new area - Bergen County and found a cute little home with lots of charm on a shady tree-lined street right down the block from the bus service. We had a bit of a frustrating holding pattern with the strange and inappropriate seller's realtor! I was about to burst just thinking about the lack of work having to be done to this home! That was frustrating that they were stalling! But we got the call and they are going to ink our offer! Oh my goodness, the things to do are as tall as the Empire State Building!!! Just before we got the good news, the old and totally inept realtor called sniffing around. My husband has made it a vow to call and jeer here once we walk over the front threshold of whatever new home we buy!!!

*sigh* This has been a weird process, we started out looking for a 2 family and were completely unprepared and unresearched for what the market was like on those homes. We really thought that we could find a home in the 470k range that was palatial for 2 families! What a laugh, that's what 1 families are going for these days so the 2 family would have to be around 800k and that was a price that none of us could afford. So now its the in-laws looking and we might have found.

Now its all systems go, I'm out the country and back and right to a closing possibly in late August. *whew* I feel like I am about to put on my shoes for a the 5th Ave Mile! The gun is about to blast. Mortgage to be secured, inspection, apt to offer up for rental, kitchen to finish up and off!!! I'm still on the Condo board so we'll see what happens wow!!! Lets do this!
