Of Hurricanes & Race....

...and all things wrong in America; yes I want to unload. America the great, the place that I just became a citizen of, but yet have to be ashamed to bark it from every mound that I see. What kind of country in this day and age, treats its citizens like trash, pushing them off into wards, and places that resemble nothing more than tumbled down corners, or prisons. Pushed them to the side so that when disaster struck they were the ones stranded, marooned, adrift. Just like they were after slavery, nothing changed - free to go, but no where to really go, just wandering around only to end up back in the same situation; hopeless and cordoned off. An "act of God" left New Orleans and the gulf coast blown to pieces, but the careless acts of man were responsible for faulty levees that broke and wrecked havoc, drowning many, making more homeless and sinking the party city into chaos. Fox News Channel had the gaul to call the people refugees. Refugees, refugees are foreign people in a foreign land not known to them. Here is the basic definition of a refugee "Under international law, a refugee is a person who is outside his/her country of nationality or habitual residence; has a well-founded fear of persecution because of his/her race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion; and is unable or unwilling to avail himself/herself of the protection of that country, or to return there, for fear of persecution." This an insult by one of the worse things to happen to our society and that's Fox News Channel, the bastion of biased reporting and sloppy journalism. This is America, still can't move forward from its backward racist thinking. Every event has to encompase race. FEMA, the government or no one rushed to the aid of these people for days and until everyone made a stink, Kanye West's blurting out "George Bush doesn't care about black people" huh, note to Kanye, George don't really care about anything that his handlers don't want him to care about, I don't think that George has an original thought in his head. Then came Wolf Blitzer's comment about the folks in New Orleans as "so poor and so black" humm I wonder what he meant. Laura Bush kept refering to the Hurricane as Hurricane Karina, and good old Barbara Bush said the people should be glad to be at the Astrodome, since they were poor and all and this should be like a step up for them, so toodle loo. Every one just showing their true colors in this meltdown. Its good to see it though, who woulda thought that a Hurricane would unmask all this mess. Ah its like a sore that just keeps getting salt dashed in it from time to to time. So the water logged "refugees" are out, and they're no longer "looting" to survive or raping or whatever, so what's in store for New Orleans - will there be more wards to shuttle off and hoard the black masses, will they finally get it together and be an all inclusive city. Will this act of nature allow them to get it right down there? New Orleans is a beautiful city, I've been there twice and often thought of purchasing a home there. Its such a shame though, when will they ever get it right.
